Das Thema des Illustration Friday ist dieses mal „Brigade“. Also habe ich euch eine Brigade von Geistern gemacht.

Today’s topic of Illustration Friday is „Brigade“. So I made a brigade of ghosts for you.

Heute hatte ich mit einigen Freunden eine Unterhaltung über genormtes Gemüse. Wieso haben die Karotten im Supermarkt fast alle dieselbe Größe? Und vor allem: Wo sind die rebellischen Karotten, die aus der Norm fallen? Ich glaube die wohnen an einem großartigen Ort und tanzen den ganzen Tag in der Disco.

Today I was talking with some friends about standardized vegetable. Why are all the carrots in the supermarket almost the same size? And even more important: What happens to those rebellious carrots that do not fit the standards? I think they are living in a wonderful place and dancing in a club all day long.

Gerade habe ich gelesen dass Zdenek Miler gestorben ist. Er hat den Kleinen Maulwurf erfunden, einen Zeichentrickhelden aus meiner Kindheit. Als ich mir Videos der Zeichentrickserie auf Youtube angesehen hae sind mir auch noch ein paar andere Helden eingefallen. Zum Beispiel die Maus auf dem Mars oder die Barbapapas. Die 1970er waren eine gute Zeit für Animation, Character Design und Illustration. Von meinen tollen Bilderbüchern muss ich euch später auch nochmal erzählen. Aber erstmal habe ich alle meine Helden gezeichnet. Sie sind auch ganz traurig dass Zdenek Miler gestorben ist.

Just now I read that Zdenek Miler has died. He was the creator of the Mole, one of my cartoon heroes when I was a kid. While watching some of his cartoons on Youtube, I suddenly remembered some of my other childhood heroes, like The Mouse On Mars (sorry, I found no links in English) or Barbapapa. The 1970ies were a great time for animation, character design and illustration. I have to tell you about my great picture books some other time. But first I drew all my childhood heroes. They are also very sad that Zdenek Miler has died.

Der Avocado-Ingwer-Vorfall von gestern hat Nachwirkungen: Nach intensiven Recherchen hat sich herausgestellt, dass die Avocado den Angriff des Ingwers provoziert hat und sie bei weitem nicht so unschuldig ist wie sie tut.

Yesterday’s avocado-ginger-incident has consequences: After a lot of investigations it turned out that the avocado provoked the attack of the ginger. The avocado is not as innocent as it pretends to be!
