Das Thema des heutigen Illustration Friday ist „rund“. Das erste woran ich gedacht habe war das japanische Enso Symbol. Einen perfekten Kreis zu malen entspricht der Erleuchtung. Aber man muss dafür ziemlich viel üben…

This week’s topic for Illustration Friday is „round“. The first thing that came to my mind was the Japanese Enso symbol. Painting the perfect circle equals enlightment. But it needs lots of training…

„Wieso starren die mich alle so an?“ dachte er. „Verdammte Sterbliche.“

„Why are they staring at me?“ he thought. „Bloody mortals.“

Könnt ihr euch noch an die Zeiten ohne Handy erinnern? Als man nicht während des Telefonierens durch die Wohnung wanderte, oder dabei im Internet surfte oder beim Lokalbesuch mit Freunden angerufen wurde? Ich habe damals oft beim telefonieren gezeichnet. Heute besitze ich kein Festnetztelefon mehr und zeichne auch nicht mehr beim Telefonieren. In Memoriam der Telefonzeichnungen habe ich aber ein paar Skizzen gemacht, ohne Plan und Ziel, dafür in Farbe. (Macht ihr eigentlich noch Telefonzeichnungen?)

Do you remember the times without cellphones? When you did not walk through your flat while you were on the phone or surf the internet during a conversation or got a call while you were in a bar with your friends? Back then I often doodled while I was getting a call on the landline. Now I do not own a landline anymore, and I stopped doodling while being on the phone. So in memory of the telephone doodles I made a few sketches. There was no goal or specific topic, but I made them in color. (Do you still do telephone doodles?)

„Me and you and everyone we know“ von Miranda July ist einer meiner Lieblingsfilme. Sollte ich ein Plakat dazu entwerfen würde es in etwa so aussehen. (Wer sich nicht auskennt was die Macaroni mit dem Film zu tun hat, sollte ihn sich schleunigst ansehen. Er ist nämlich großartig. Was man bereits anhand dieses Filmausschnitts erkennen kann.)

„Me and you and everyone we know“ by Miranda July is one of my favorite movies. If I would have to make a movie poster, it would look something like this. (Anyone who does not have a clue why there is a macaroni on this poster should watch the movie asap. It is great. As you can see in this tiny clip.)

Während mir Freunde vom schönen sonnigen Wetter in Salzburg und Brüssel erzählen, ist das zur Zeit die Farbe des Himmels über Wien – undurchdringlicher tagelanger grauer Hochnebel. Und genauso sieht meine Stimmung aus. (Ich will Sonne. Seufz.)

While friends tell me about nice sunny weather in Salzburg and Brussels, this is the color of the Viennese sky at the moment – impermeable grey high fog for days. And my mood looks the same. (I want to see the sun. Sigh.)

Ich gehe heute Nacht zum ersten mal zu einer Burlesque Show. Ich bin schon ganz aufgeregt und erwarte zahlreiche Nipplepasties mit schwingenden Bömmeln dran!

Tonight I am going to see a burlesque show for the first time in my life. I am very excited and expect a lot of nipple pasties and swinging tassels!

Das Thema des heutigen Illustration Friday ist „Vanity“/“Eitelkeit“. Nachdem ich einige Ideen mit Spiegelbildern, Narziss und so weiter gewälzt habe ist mir das für mich naheliegendste eingefallen: Das Internet. Es ist der Ort wo man sich spiegelt, die Plattform auf der um Anerkennung gebuhlt wird, wo es um die Anzahl der „Gefällt mir“ Klicks geht. Natürlich geht es im Internet noch um ganz viele andere Dinge, aber die Selbstdarstellung ist ein großer Teil davon. Und da nehme ich mich gar nicht aus. (Ihr könnt mich übrigens hier auf Facebook befreunden ;-)

This weeks topic for Illustration Friday is „Vanity“. After thinking about some ideas with mirrors, Narcissus and so on I suddenly thought of the most obvious topic: the internet. It is the place where people reflect themselves, it is a platform for gaining attention, it is the place where the number of „likes“ you get is important. Of course the internet is a vast place for all kind of other things, but the need for self-expression is a big part of it. And I am no exception. (You can find me here on Facebook ;-)

Zuerst mochte er seine neue schicke Uniform überhaupt nicht. Aber als er draufkam dass er seine heißgeliebte Krawatte darunter immer noch tragen konnte war er wieder glücklich.

First he did not like his new fancy uniform. But when he realized that he could still wear his beloved tie underneath he started feeling happy again.

Heute habe ich mit meinen Freunden und Bürokollegen K. und F. den Tag in der Büroküche ausklingen lassen. Nach einem guten Essen und viel Küchenphilosophie habe ich in die Runde gefragt was ich heute Kreatives machen soll. „Zeichne mein Kopfweh“ hat K. geantwortet. Bitteschön. (Arme K., hoffentlich ist das Kopfweh jetzt besser.)

Today after work I chilled out in our office kitchen with my dear friends and office mates K. and F.. After a nice meal and a lot of philosophic talks I asked them what I should do for Be Creative today. „Draw my headache“ K. said. There you go. (Poor K., I hope her headache is better now.)
