Heute Abend war ich beim jährlichen Sommerfest einer Filmproduktionsfirma eingeladen. Während es bis nachmittags noch sehr warm war hatte es abends dann nur mehr 15 Grad, es regnete und war sehr windig. Das Fest war nett, aber zu Hause war ich dann doch recht durchgefroren. Also habe ich mir eine Tasse Glühwein gemacht. Im Hochsommer. Tja.

Tonight I attended the annual summer party of a filmproduction company. While it had been very hot until the afternoon, there were only 15° C at night, it was raining and the wind was blowing heavily. The party was nice, but when I came home I was chilled through. So I made myself a cup of Glühwein (hot spiced wine). In the middle of summer. Well.

Meine Nachbarin hat auf der Straße einen Stapel Playboys aus dem Jahr 1960 gefunden. Sie hat mir die Märzausgabe geschenkt. Darin gibt es haufenweise großartiges Material, ich glaube das wird eine Serie.

My neighbour found a stack of Playboy magazines from the year 1960 in the streets. She gave me the March issue as a present. There is tons of great material in it, I think this is going to be a series.

Gerade hat mich eine gute Freundin angerufen und mir eine sehr traurige Geschichte erzählt. Das Leben ist echt manchmal ein Hund, wie man hier so sagt. Und oft ist die einzige Lösung dass man darauf zugeht und weitermacht mit dem leben.

Just now a good friend called me and told me a very sad story. Sometimes life is a bitch, there is no other way to put it. And often the only solution is to walk straight towards it and keep on living.

Alex wusste natürlich dass Seepferdchen existieren. Aber dass sie so groß waren wie echte Pferde, das überraschte sie dann doch ein wenig.

Of course Alex knew that seahorses existed. But that they are as big as real horses, that came as a bit of a surprise for her.

Ich verstehe nicht wie die Menschen die diese Karte gezeichnet haben die Bewohner des Mondes übersehen konnten. Die grauen da unten, das sind zum Beispiel Brüder. Der eine liebt es am Südpol zu schlafen und versucht dabei die Farbe der Umgebung anzunehmen (was ihm nicht gelingt, er ist ja kein Chamäleon). Die blaue Familie hat immer ihre liebe Not mit den beiden Zwillingstöchtern. Die hüpfen so wild herum dass sie schon öfters beinahe hinuntergefallen wären. Und die Frau in braun will alle Mond-Meere befahren. Der grüne Kerl macht sich immer einen Spaß daraus vorbeikommende Raumschiffe anzuhalten und tut so als ob er mitgenommen werden möchte (was natürlich nicht geht, er ist viel zu groß). Und am lustigsten ist der schwarze Mann ganz oben. Er winkt uns immer zu und verschwindet dann im dunklen Hintergrund. Wahrscheinlich glauben deshalb immer noch alle hier auf der Erde, dass die Geschichte vom „Mann im Mond“ eine Lüge ist.

I have no idea why the people who were drawing this map forgot about the inhabitants of the moon. The grey ones for example, they are brothers. One of them loves to sleep on the south pole and always tries to blend in with the color of his surroundings (very unsuccessfully, he isn’t a chamaeleon at all). The blue family always has to keep an eye on their twin daughters. They are very wild and every now and then one of them almost falls off the edge. The woman in brown wants to sail all the seas of the moon. The green guy is making fun of all the spaceships passing by – he pretends he wants to take a ride with them (which is clearly impossible because he is much to big). And the funniest dude is the black man on the top. He always waves at us and then he disappears in the dark. Maybe that is why here on earth everyone still thinks the „man on the moon“ is just a myth.

Ich bin heute Abend auf eine Geburtstagsfeier eingeladen. Offenbar gibt es ein Meer-verwandtes Thema, denn man soll etwas mitbringen das mit Schiffen, Piraten oder sonstigen Meeressachen zu tun hat. Also habe ich aufgezeichnet was man für einen Tag auf Hoher See unbedingt braucht. Vor allem wahre Liebe und eine Schwalbe.
Update: Kann nicht auf die Party wegen Kopfwehattacke. Träume mich stattdessen auf die hohe See :-(

Today I am invited to a birthday party. There seems to be some kind of nautical theme because everyone is supposed to bring something that has to do with boats, pirates or other sea related stuff. So I drew a picture of things you need for a day at the sea. Especially true love and a swallow.
Update: I cannot go to the party, I have such a bad headache. I have to dream about the sea instead :-(

Manchmal denke ich dass so ein Glas mit eingemachtem Glück ganz praktisch wäre.

Sometimes I think a jar of preserved happiness would be convenient.
